Riverside Sawmill
Riverside Sawmill is located about 12 miles south east of the seaside and University town of Aberystwyth. We are a family business, being owned and managed by Dyfrig Evans for the last 33 years.
We produce preservative treated fencing stakes, posts, rails and high quality, dry, dust extracted wood shavings for equine and animal bedding.
Timber Fencing Products
We supply a range of timber products including timber posts, stakes, rails, struts, strainers and gateposts suitable for agricultural, construction and garden landscaping use.
All of our timber products undergo high pressure preservative treatment which we carry out on-site. To find out more about the treatment process click here.

Sourcing and the Environment
Our timber is typically sourced from within 40 miles of the mill. We are dedicated to environmental sustainability and also operate a biomass dryer in our equine and animal bedding production process.

Almost all of our timber is sourced within 40 miles of the mill, with all milling and high pressure preservative treatment being carried out on-site.

High Quality Dust Extracted Bedding
Our new plant, commissioned towards the end of 2014 is closely monitored for quality and consistency. We use two screeening machines in the processing line, initially a star screener to remove the shards and over sized flakes, then a triple deck oscillating shaker screen which seperates the dust from the shavings and other oversized particles.
This process produces exceptionally high quality shavings. The drying process utilises a carbon friendly biomass burner and rotary drum dryer to remove the necessary moisture down to about 10%.

Animal Welfare
Whilst straw is often used in stables or for other animal bedding, it contains high levels of dust and spores. Our shavings are dust extracted and have exceptionally low moisture levels. Shavings are packed in heat sealed, clear bags and are the best choice for your animals to reduce respiratory and slippage risks.
